NoteFlash Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 18, 2026
Overview
NoteFlash is a study flashcard app. It stores decks, flashcards, study sessions, progress, and app settings locally on your device. The current version does not provide user accounts, advertising, analytics tracking, subscriptions, or cloud sync operated by NoteFlash.
NoteFlash is published by Moonwing2020.
Information Stored on Your Device
The app stores the study content you create or import, including deck names, flashcard questions and answers, tags, review progress, and study history. This data is used to provide offline study features and progress tracking.
If you enter an OpenAI API key, NoteFlash stores it on your device for the purpose of making AI generation requests that you initiate. When you start an AI request, the key is sent to OpenAI as an authorization credential for that request. The app stores this key using encrypted Android storage.
AI Import and Third-Party Processing
When you use AI import, the content you choose, such as pasted text, TXT/DOCX/PDF files, images, or camera photos, is sent to OpenAI to generate flashcards. This transfer only happens after you manually start AI import and accept the in-app disclosure.
OpenAI processes this content according to its own terms and privacy practices. You should not submit sensitive personal information, confidential documents, or content you do not have permission to process with a third-party AI provider.
The review/demo sample mode uses bundled example study text and generates sample flashcards locally on the device. It does not send user-selected content or API keys to OpenAI.
Data Sharing
NoteFlash does not sell your personal data. NoteFlash does not operate its own server for account storage or analytics. When you use AI import, your selected content is transmitted to OpenAI as a service provider so the app can generate flashcards.
Security
AI requests are sent over HTTPS. Local app data remains on your device unless you choose to send content to OpenAI through the AI import feature. Android device security, backups, and local access controls may also affect the protection of local app data.
Your Choices
You can use existing local study features without entering an OpenAI API key. You can clear your OpenAI API key in the AI settings screen. You can delete decks and flashcards inside the app. You can also remove all local app data by uninstalling NoteFlash or clearing app storage in Android settings.
Children
NoteFlash is not directed to children under 13. If the app is made available to younger audiences in the future, the privacy policy and Google Play declarations should be updated before release.
Changes
We may update this policy when app features or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
